library information that's good to know!

library information that's good to know!

  • If you still had books checked out at the end of last school year, you need to turn them in or talk to the librarian before you can check out any new books!

  • Make sure to bring your library card when you come to the library!

  • You may talk and visit while you are looking for books or sitting at the tables, but it does need to be quiet voices. If there is a story time or class happening, please be respectful and only whisper near them if you absolutely have to!

  • Students are allowed to check out up to 2 books each. The borrowing period is for 3 weeks. We understand that 3 weeks isn’t always long enough, and as long as you know exactly  where the book is, and you are reading it every day, we usually let you keep it as long as you need to. But if a book is taking you longer than 6-8 weeks, it might not be the best choice for you, or perhaps you just need to have only that one book checked out!

  • Keep the shelves tidy- spine out, call number down, and don’t push the books back.  We want everyone to be able to see the books!

  • Please use a shelf marker or your library card to hold a book’s spot on the shelf.  The shelved books need to be put back in their exact spot, like a home address. That’s how we can find the books for the next person. Kind of like when you ride the bus home, you need to go to your house, not just any old house on your street!  If you can’t find the book’s home, bring it back to the desk and let us take care of it.

  • Hug them like you love them! Absolutely NO throwing books, or carrying them on your head, or by one corner, etc.

  • Take good care of the library books! Water bottles and books are not friends.  If you do get a book wet, bring it to the library IMMEDIATELY!!  If you wait, it could get moldy and gross and then you would have to pay for a new book to replace it.

  • No water bottles, food, or candy in the library! (unless you’ve earned library lunch!)

  • Please walk and do not climb over or on anything.  Chairs need to be flat on the floor.  We want y’all to stay safe!
