SB 13
LISD’s Policy for SB13 Compliance
Our school librarians are highly qualified certified school librarians with Masters of Library Science degrees. They follow the Collection Development Policy in LISD’s Board Policies.
In school libraries, students shall be afforded the opportunity to self-select texts as part of literacy development. While teachers and librarians are trained in selecting materials in accordance with board policy, the ultimate determination of appropriateness lies with the student and parent. The district recognizes that parents are the primary decision-makers regarding their student’s access to library materials, and the need to keep parents informed as to the materials that are available for their students.
